Joseph Smith
Historical Reprints

The Herald Heritage Replica series are reprints of popular books of historical significance to the Community of Christ, formally the Reorganized Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. They are exact facsimile reproduction of first editions, bound in period-like mock-leather binding, embossed with the book title on the spine, providing the authentic size, look, feel and format of the original.

From time to time, the publishing house will release reprints of other historical classics for the benefit of those who have never had opportunity to read the views of some of the early writers of the Reorganization.

Books currently in this series are:

1830 Book of Mormon, by Joseph Smith, Junior, author and proprietor, to the convincing of the Jew and Gentile that Jesus is the Christ, first edition published at Palmyra, New York, 1830.

Book of Commandments, for the Church of Christ, published in Zion [Independence, Missouri] by W. W. Phelps & Co., 1833, the church's first attempt at making the commandments and revelations of Joseph Smith available to the church in printed form, an incomplete and exceedingly rare volume due to the destruction of the church printing press on 20 July 1833.

Doctrine and Covenants of the Church of the Latter Day Saints, carefully selected from the Revelations of God, published at Kirtland, Ohio, 1835, commandments and items or principles for the regulation of the church, also including a section of lectures of faith by early church leaders.

Sacred Hymns for the Church of the Latter Day Saints, the first hymnal of the church, hymn texts selected by Emma Smith, the Elect Lady, as commanded of the Lord, including a gathering of hymns styled for the use of the church by W. W. Phelps and other early church members.
